Privacy Policy for RR Roku Remote

Overview

RR Roku Remote is a browser extension that lets you control Roku devices on your local network. Your privacy is important to us.

Data Collection

We collect minimal data necessary to provide our service.

The extension does not:

• Track your browsing activity
• Use analytics or tracking services
• Display advertisements
• Require account creation or sign-in

Data Storage

The extension stores the following data locally in your browser:

• Device Information: IP addresses and nicknames of your Roku devices
• Preferences: UI settings and quick app selections
• Visitor ID: An anonymous identifier used for subscription management

This local data is not accessible to us or any third party.

Network Communication

The extension communicates with:

1. Roku devices on your local network using Roku's External Control Protocol (ECP) over HTTP port 8060
2. Our subscription server (app.techgripes.net) to manage trial periods and premium subscriptions

Subscription & Payments

For premium features, we use Stripe to process payments. When you subscribe:

• Stripe collects your payment information directly (we never see your full card number)
• We store only an anonymous visitor ID linked to your subscription status
• Payment data is handled entirely by Stripe under their Privacy Policy

We store in our database:

• Anonymous visitor ID
• Subscription status (trial, active, expired)
• Subscription dates

We do NOT store:

• Your name, email, or contact information
• Credit card numbers or payment details
• Browsing history or personal data

Permissions

The extension requests these permissions:

• Storage: To save your device list and preferences locally
• Alarms: To power the sleep timer feature
• Host Permission (port 8060): To communicate with Roku devices on your network
• Host Permission (app.techgripes.net): To verify subscription status

Third Parties

• Stripe: Processes payments. See Stripe's Privacy Policy
• Redis Cloud: Stores anonymous subscription data (visitor ID and status only)

Children's Privacy

This extension does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this privacy policy, we will post the new version here with an updated date.
